What exactly are the Directories of Professional
Entertainers?
The Directories of Professional Entertainers
are printed publications that features full page color ads of distinguished performing artists appearing in specific
regions. They are the size of a theatre program (5.5 inches horizontally by 8.5 inches vertically), and all ads are
on glossy magazine-quality pages. New editions will be published every year and will be distinguished
by volume number (Example:Volume I, Volume II, etc.) as opposed to
being dated by year. We believe this labeling distinction will extend the life of the Directories as they
will not display a "year" that some, in time, may perceive as being out of date.
Do I have to live in the specified region in order
to list in a particular directory?
No. The printed Directories
of Professional Entertainers feature entertainers that perform in a specific region.
Who publishes the Directories of Professional Entertainers?
The Directories are published by Patricia Fleming, a theatre producer and event specialist
based in the Chicago area. Patricia has
been working professionally in the entertainment field since 1978.

How are the directories delivered?
The Directories are mailed, free of charge, to selected event planners,
producers, agents and other talent buyers.
Where do listing artists come from?
We invite professional entertainers from State Arts Roster Lists, Touring Artist
Lists, Agencies, Professional Clubs, Websites, Organizations, etc.
How did I get on your contact
list?
Patricia personally
selects entertainers and then extends an invitation to participate. We do not buy, trade or sell our contact lists. An e-mail from us does not mean that your e-mail address has
been compromised nor does it mean you will receive SPAM from hundreds of companies. An e-mail from us simply
means that it has been determined that you meet our professional standards for inclusion in the directories
and you are being invited to take advantage of this opportunity.
How do you determine which artists are extended an invitation
to participate in this project?
We are often asked
if we "screen" an artist's performance for quality before extending an invitation to participate in our directories.
We do not. Art, like beauty, is very much in the eye of the beholder and we would never presume to determine an artist's
worthiness based upon our own personal tastes.
I have heard that the internet is the
only productive way to market yourself if you are an entertainer...why should I try a printed directory?
The internet is a very effective tool for self-promotion and we do not discourage its use.
As we all know, the internet is one of the greatest inventions of man, but it does have its limitations. Our directories
are designed to fill in the gaps of those limitations. by offering producers, agents and talent buyers the opportunity to
view all types of performing artists...not just those that "fit" nicely into search engine
categories.
Personal mailings don't seem to work for me.
Why would yours work any better?
Producers,
booking agents and event planners receive hundreds of personal mailings every year. Sadly, most will glance
at the information and then throw it away; very few are saved for future reference, the simple reason being
lack of time and space. Your "business card" placed in
our directory will have significant staying power. Why? Because almost all producers would much
rather have a single, durable publication that features the contact info, photo and program descriptions for dozens
of entertainers than have to save hundreds of envelopes and brochures stuffed with flyers, demos and photos.
What is the advantage of substituting
my own personal mailings with a listing in your directory?
If you were to put a full page color ad (5 1/4 in x 8 in) in 1,000 of our directories, the
listing fee is only $250.00 (Half Page color ads are $175.00). You simply could not
send 1,000 professionally-designed ads to talent buyers for less than those prices.
How often do you publish each state
directory?
We publish
once every 12-15 months.
If this is a print directory, why do you have
a website?
We added
the website in 2008 in response to talent buyers asking for additional Directories for staff members and clients. We
felt that it would be easier for interested parties to see the ads online rather than wait for additional printed copies to
be delivered.
Your listing fee includes a one year
listing on your website. Since I am already on several websites, why would I need to put myself on another?
Our website is primarily a support tool for our printed directories and is used
to expand coverage for our listing artists. Our online listing is a free bonus; you are only paying for
your listing in the printed directory.
How many entertainers have appeared
in the Directories?
Over a thousand. Our earlier
editions featured professionals in many areas of entertainment and our directories routinely featured over 100 ads.
Our new line of directories contain fewer ads as we feature only live performing artists presented to talent buyers in full
page, full color ads.
The sample directory I received has quarter
page ads. Can I purchase one of those or do I have to buy a half or full page ad?
Our new directories feature only half page and full page ads with a preview pricing
listing fee of $175 and $250, respectively. We no longer offer quarter page ads for listings.
Do you still offer black and white ads and
are they less expensive than color ads?
We still
offer black and white ads to entertainers who desire this style. Black and white ads cost the same as full color ads.
Why does each Directory cover such a wide geographical
area?
All of our listing entertainers tend to be
full time professionals that travel for performance. Traveling throughout a specified region and beyond is expected
in their line of work.
Can agencies list their artists in the directory?
Yes. Artists may appear and have their agencies listed as their contact or agencies
can place ads for their entertainers, listing themselves as contacts.
What types of entertainers usually appear in
the directory?
Our entertainers tend to be full time
professional performing artists. Among the types of entertainers that we have showcased: Aerial Artists, Circus
Performers, Comedians, Storytellers, Mystery Theatres, Jugglers, Magicians, Hypnotists, Mentalists, Illusionists, Dance Companies,
Stiltwalkers, Mimes, Wedding Bands, Classical Musicians, Bagpipers, Harpists, Cover Bands, Ventriloquists, Jazz Bands, Jazz
Vocalists, Stunt Shows, Musical Entertainment, Comedy Troupes, Educational Entertainers, Corporate Speakers, Hawaiian Shows,
Team Building Programs, Party Psychics, Ethnic Entertainers, Musicians, Western Shows, Orchestras, Fire Performers, Cabaret
Shows, Impersonators and Character Performers.
How can I determine if I should appear in the
directory?
You should be a full time performer that
works diligently to maintain or advance their career. You should be at a professional level in which you are willing
and able to travel at least two to four hours for performances if necessary.
I don't have much time right now. If I do participate, how
much time will it take me to register?
Registration should
take about 5-10 minutes of your time.
If I decide to participate, when is the
listing fee due?
Your listing fee is due immediately
upon registration. Until our office receives your listing fee, pricing discounts, cover placement and ad placement are
not guaranteed.
How do I sign up?
